Our SEND Provision

Our SEND Provision

A child or a young person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made that is additional to or different from that made generally for other children of the same age.

There are four broad areas of special educational need, these are:

  • Communication and Interaction
This area of need includes children with Autism Spectrum Condition and those with Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Cognition and Learning
This includes children with Specific Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
This includes any pupils who have an emotional, social or mental health need that is impacting on their ability to learn
  • Sensory and/or Physical Difficulties
This area includes children with hearing impairment, visual impairment, multi-sensory impairment and physical difficulties

I have just completed a dedicated SEND Home Learning area on our website

https://www.greatouse.beds.sch.uk/home-learning/send-home-learning/

There are folders for each area of SEND and a word document that I have written with tips/ guidance all cross referenced with suggested interactive websites, app suggestions, pdfs and word doc files.

The folders are:- cognition and learning; communication and understanding; social, emotional and mental health; sensory and physical; EYFS SEND; General (reward charts, visual schedules, one page profile templates, suggested independent learning etc).

It has taken me a while to compile so if this helps saves another fellow SENDCO or helps any families in need I will be happy.
