In line with statutory requirements, St. Mary's Curriculum was launched in September 2014, coinciding with the introduction of the new National Curriculum in England.
At our school we offer a Catholic education which promotes spiritual and moral development with Christ at the very heart of all we do. We also offer a curriculum that is broad and balanced and which prepares our pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
This curriculum comprises all the learning and other experiences that we plan for our pupils. This, of course, includes the requirements of the National Curriculum and the Come and See Programme for religious education. Through our curriculum we also extend pupils’ understanding of the cultural diversity of modern British society.
It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, but also the range of additional opportunities that the school organises in order to enrich the experiences of our children. This includes an ever growing range of ‘Extra Curricular’ opportunities available to our children across all year groups.
In school we follow the 'Come and See' Religious Education programme.
Find below the overview of the topics for each year groups. Where classes are mixed we work on a rolling programme so all topics are covered.
Each year all classes also have a specific weeks study of Judaism and Islam.
